Ross Borland, a student at Banff and Buchan College has excelled in a prestigious UK competition - SkillELECTRIC.
Ross, who now works for Claud Hamilton Electrical Services, competed against his peers to be nominated as the best student in the College, he then went on to win the North Consortium of the SkillELECTRIC competition.
He was then awarded first place at the Scottish heat and so he went on to the UK final where he was Highly Commended in the 2011 Championship.
His manager and tutors are delighted at his success in the tough competition. Finalists had to install a set of four complicated circuits and their work is assessed on its accuracy, function, health & safety, wiring & termination, testing and quality.
Ross said: “Competing at the competitions was a great experience and I would like to thank my employer and Banff and Buchan College for helping throughout my apprenticeship.”
Curriculum Leader Ian Barbour said: “We are very proud of Ross’s achievements. He was the college apprentice of the year in the first and second stage of his apprenticeship. The level and quality of work was always at a very high standard. His success is well deserved.”
