The Scottish Seafood Association (SSA) has praised the joint efforts of processors and catchers in pledging their support to the SSA’s popular stand at the forthcoming Skipper Expo Int. Aberdeen 2014.
Several processors and fishermen have pledged their commitment to supply locally caught fish and shellfish for the SSA’s seafood taster sessions at the Aberdeen expo.
These will be served up by chef Tony Jackson of Boddam’s Buchan Braes Hotel and his team.
Commenting on the event, SSA chairman, Will Clark, said: “We are delighted at the support pledged by fishermen and processors to our popular stand.
“This is a great collaborative effort and underlines the close working relationship between the two sectors.
“Our stand is always a great focal point for visitors and provides a great opportunity to showcase the very best of Scottish seafood, as well as highlight the versatility of fish and shellfish in the kitchen.”
This year at the Aberdeen expo, the SSA will also be highlighting its new training school in Peterhead.
The facility has been created to enhance the skills of processors and fishermen and to encourage new entrants into the industry.
The Seafood Training Centre in Farmer’s Lane in the town is already up and running and has successfully completed its first courses.
This year’s Skipper Expo Int. Aberdeen will be held in the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre on Friday and Saturday, May 30 and 31.
