A public meeting will be held this month to try and drum up support to save Peterhead’s Fishermen’s Mission which is currently for sale.

Local business Stephen Bruce has set up the meeting on Thursday July 28 after launching a campaign to save the Mission earlier this month.

The open meeting will be held in the upstairs of Peterhead Football Club at 7pm to form a committee that will then aim to form a Trust to purchase the Mission centre for the Peterhead community.

Mr Bruce said: “As you can appreciate with having a new business there is no way I can do this on my own, so if you are passionate about saving the mission centre for future generations then please come along to the meeting and put your name forward to help.

“I must emphasis if I don’t get volunteers to help I won’t be able continue with this project.”

David Dickens, Chief Executive of the Fishermen’s Mission has looked to assure local fishermen that regardless of what happens with the centre the Fishermen’s Mission will remain in Peterhead.

However with no formal offers for the building on the table the centre is for offer on the open market.
