The Lodge in Strichen is due to close next week in order to allow its current owners to concentrate on their new business.
Joanna and Noel Gall will now focus on re-opening the Saplinbrae Hotel near Mintlaw.
The Lodge will close on Thursday, December 31 in order to allow new proprietors into the building.
Joanna and Noel opened The Lodge in May 2011, with a vision to showcase the best of everyday Scottish food, and have been considerably successful in fulfilling this mission.
They have built up a large, loyal customer base and The Lodge has become known as a must-go for lunch in the North East.
When asked to comment on the closure of the popular Strichen coffee shop and restaurant, Joanna said: “We will be extremely sad to no longer be the team behind The Lodge.
“We feel very privileged to have been the first people to utilise the old lodge building restored by the Strichen Community Park Committee, and will close the door on The Lodge at the end of the month with many fond memories of all the customers we have served along the way.
“However, I would like to stress to the people of this area, who I know are very attached to The Lodge and many of our staff, that this is not goodbye. We’re just along the road in Mintlaw and they can still pop in past for a scone or a light lunch at any point.”
Joanna added: “We understand that this closure has come around very quickly, and would like to let all customers know that Lodge gift vouchers will be redeemable at Saplinbrae until June 2016.
“Likewise, vouchers previously bought at Saplinbrae from the previous owners can be used in the hotel’s restaurant for the first six months of the new year.”
Joanna and Noel wish the new proprietors the best of luck in their venture, and hope they have as much success at The Lodge as they have enjoyed.
