A LOCAL author is hoping that his latest work - a sequel to Bram Stoker’s Dracula - will take a hit.
Xander Buchan’s ‘Dracula Rekindled’ follows the exploits of the arch-vampire as he returns to the north-east of Scotland, with evil intentions for the village of Cruden Bay.
Xander told the Buchanie: “As most locals will know, Bram Stoker holidayed in the North East and was a guest at New Slains Castle by Cruden Bay during the years where he wrote Dracula. The castle and cliffs were thought to have inspired, in part, Dracula’s castle in his classic Gothic story. Few sequels have been attempted on Dracula, even fewer work - I wager this one does.”
He added that he hoped the story would attract visitors to the area.
“It’s a beautiful area with much history and many hidden gems. We need to be proud of it and celebrate it, and I think I’ve done that here. Local readers should go bag themselves a copy!”
