The ASCO Group recently hosted an oil and gas industry familiarisation tour at its Torry Marine Base in Aberdeen for a group of business delegates from Oil and Gas UK; the representative organisation for the UK offshore oil and gas industry.
Familiarisation visits play a crucial role in sharing experience, learning and knowledge across what is a hugely diverse oil and gas supply chain, as well as to the next generation of industry employees.
In attendance from Oil and Gas UK were a number of business support staff including operations manager, Ken Cruickshank and six recently-recruited business analysts who are new to the industry.
The delegates received a presentation on ASCO’s business in the UK and worldwide as well as a tour of the quayside Torry Marine Base and the opportunity to see supply vessels being loaded for shipment offshore.
Ken commented: “Oil & Gas UK has recently recruited a number of talented young people and, as part of the organisation’s commitment to their development, we try to give them a broad range of experiences in order to advance their understanding of our industry.
“ASCO was a fantastic host and gave our people a really useful insight into the vital logistics work it does in getting oil and gas equipment from A to B.”
Chris Coull, ASCO’s Aberdeen director, added: “It’s great to be able to share our specialist knowledge with the next generation of industry workers, gained over more than 45 years in the industry.
“I hope they found the tour a useful insight into the busy and time critical role that ASCO plays in the oil and gas supply chain and we wish them the very best of luck in their future careers.”
