An application has been lodged to build 100 houses in Mintlaw as phase two of an ongoing housing development to the north of the village.
Colaren Homes have submitted the application for full planning permission for the second phase of the Northwoods housing development.
The first phase of the development for 90 houses is close to completion.
The application is now being considered by Aberdeenshire Council with a decision expected within the next three months.
Colin Smith, managing director of Colaren Homes, said: “Phase 1 exceeded all our expectations in terms of its popularity, with around 90 houses sold in the first two years.
“These strong sales figures reflect the high demand for new houses in this development.”
Within the 100 houses proposed there will be a mix of house types ranging from 3-bed two-storey semi-detached properties to 5-bed one-and-a-half-storey detached family homes.
The development also makes provision to include land for 25% affordable housing to be provided by Aberdeenshire Council.
Mr Smith said: “The town is clearly thriving as shown by the Northwoods housing development and the new MACBI community centre.
“Mintlaw benefits from its position as the heart of Buchan at the crossroads between Peterhead, Fraserburgh and Aberdeen.”
