WELL folks we have reached another milestone in the Buchan Observer’s grand old 150-year history.

Next week’s sees the biggest re-launch of the title since the 2004 move to tabloid from the old broadsheet design.

The exciting fresh new look has been carefully developed for our owners Johnston Press to provide maximum clarity and enjoyment for our readers.

Not only does it provide all our UK-wide sister titles with more continuity of style and layout, it will combine with our forthcoming revamped online presence to bring you even more local and regional news as it happens.

There’s also a fantatsic competition to win a £2,500 Maitlands suite which is sure to prove popular.

We have listened very carefully to what our readers and lapsed readers have had to say about the Buchanie and are committed to implementing those changes as soon as possible.

Some of the feedback has been tough to take, we will admit. Other comments have been hugely positive and inspired us to continue doing what we always strive to do - bringing you the news happening in Buchan every week.

One of the key omissions of late has been court and crime coverage and to that end we are bringing in an additional reporter to focus on that area.

Similarly, many of you want more sports content and we have been in discussions with sports club to promote their activities.

What has become apparent during recent weeks is that the tie-in with our online Twitter and Facebook platforms is proving exceptionally popular and we will develop that with your help in the future.

So we hope you will continue to support us by buying the Buchanie every Tuesday and encourage anyone who doesn’t buy it to give us a go.

Remember - it’s YOUR paper.
