Around 100 properties in Peterhead town centre were affected after a water main burst on Queen Street yesterday.
Scottish Water said the burst happened at around 5.30pm and repair work was completed in the early hours of this morning.
A spokesman for Scottish Water told the Buchanie: “An alternative supply was put in place while some customers may have experienced low pressure, no water or discoloured water.
“If any customers are still experiencing discoloured water, they should be assured that the water is safe and that this is a normal side effect of the sediment in the pipes being disturbed.
“Customers should run their kitchen tap at half pressure until the water is clear.”
They added: “We apologise for any inconvenience customers may have experienced.”
