Peterhead’s Katie Woods has been chosen as the 2016 Buchan Queen along with princesses Sinead O’Brien and Shelley McWilliam.
12 ladies were vying for the coveted title at the Buchan Queen Dinner and Dance, sponsored by Aberdeen radio station Original 106, held at the Waterside Inn on Saturday, May 21.
The event was hosted by Ritchie Grant of Original 106 and the judging panel was made up of the radio station’s presenters; Martin Ingram, Claire Stevenson, Rick Cowie and Martyn Smith.
Peterhead Scottish Week treasurer, Graham Barron, said: “It was a fantastic evening and I’d like to say a special thank you to Original 106 for bringing glamour to the evening.”
The new Buchan Queen and her two princesses won cash prizes and each received a gift basket from IT Works.
They were also presented with flowers from The Flower Shop in Peterhead as well as winning the chance to design their own dress for the crowning ceremony thanks to Coach House Bridal.
The trio will be officially crowned at the opening ceremony of this year’s Scottish Week on Saturday, July 16, at Drummers Corner.
The 2016 Peterhead Scottish Week will run until Sunday, July 24.
