Buchan Peterson Pipe Band tasted success at its first major outing in 2015, when it took the runners-up slot in Grade 2 at the British Championship at Bathgate.
The 40 -strong group was well placed to meet the challenge from top Grade 2 bands from mainland UK, Northern Ireland and Eire in a grade that has been strengthened by several new bands.
Top honours of the day went to the Drum Corps when declared champions in the grade against very strong opposition working under Leading Drummer, Brian Martin.
Buchan Peterson chairman, Robert Skinner, was jubilant over the result and delighted to hear the Buchan drummers being declared winners just ahead of the band result.
He said: “I would like to thank our main sponsors Petersons and The Palace Hotel for their continued help and support.
“Only with such help and support, along with that of others in the community, can the band travel and compete at all major championships and maintain its high profile”.
The band, led by Pipe Major Scott Oliphant, will be chasing more major honours in two weeks’ time at the UK Championship at Stormont in Belfast.
