Buchan Community Radio celebrated its first birthday on Tuesday, April 29.
Speaking about the past year chairman John Cropley said: “Everything went better than we thought and we didn’t think we would last as long as we have done.”
The Peterhead station currently has 14 presenters and they are planning to apply for a 28 day restricted services FM licence (RSL) by the end of this year or early 2015.
Highlights from the station’s first year include DJ Dizzy’s 25-hour marathon show which managed to raise over £1,000 and his ‘Shang-A-Lang’ Bay City Rollers tribute programme that attracts listeners from all across the world.
Programme organiser, Ronnie Arthur, said: “The show has been very popular and it is amazing that DJ Dizzy has been able to get in contact with the original Bay City Rollers band members.”
