PETERHEAD’S Cancer Research Shop in Drummers Corner received a cheque for £150 last week.

The money was handed over by Bobby Murray, who works as a porter at the town’s Morrisons store.

Bobby regularly raises funds for the charity and this year he undertook a three-mile sponsored swim at Peterhead Swimming Pool.

He told the Buchanie: “I started the swim at the end of July, beginning of August.

“I decided to to it in six parts and I swan 32 lengths each session, bringing the total swim to three miles.

“Last year I did a swim, walk and run to raise the money but this year I decided to concentrate on the swimming side and increase the swim distance,” he said.

Each swimming session took under an hour to complete and Bobby managed to finish the swim on September 15, when he completed his final session.

He was delighted to hand over the cheque to shop manager, Sheena Booth, and volunteers Linda Milliken, Muriel Broadley, Ann Duncan and Cath Bremner.

Bobby was thanked for his efforts by everyone at the shop.
