Peterhead FC’s glowing run of form was reflected in the January awards as the Blue Toon picked up both Player and Manager of the Month.
Jim McInally took the trophy for the best boss in League 1 for January while striker Shane Sutherland won the best player accolade.
The Blue Toon won three out of four games in January, scoring an impressive fourteen goals, conceding only three.
The Toon’s only dropped points of the month came in a scoreless draw against league leaders Dunfermline.
Shane Sutherland scored four goals as Peterhead ran rampant in the league, netting doubles against Stranraer and Albion Rovers.
Speaking about his award Sutherland said: “It was great obviously to get the recognition.
“It’s unbelievable and with the manager getting his it’s good for the team, it’s been a good month for us.”
Sutherland says that the boys in the changing room are “buzzing” at the moment and with the weekend win against Forfar, in which Sutherland scored again, bringing their run of games unbeaten to 13 it is easy to see why.
Saturday’s win also saw McInally’s boys stay second in the table and in that vital playoff place.
There is also the small matter of a cup final against Rangers on the horizon in April.
Sutherland said: “We are trying to be as professional as possible and put it at the back of our minds but obviously we are excited by it.”
