A special youth event held at Apex Church in Peterhead recently has been hailed a great success by organisers.
Thrive Youth Ministries hosted ‘Limitless’ at the Chapel Street church on Saturday, May 25, which was attended by youngsters from churches across the Buchan area.
A capacity crowd enjoyed an energetic worship experience led by the Thrive Band.
The youngstes were also inspired by a challenging message from guest speaker on the evening, Pastor Andrew Cherrie from Hillsong Church in London.
Hillsong Church meets in the centre of London with a congregation of more than 10,000 people.
Prior to joining Hillsong three years ago, Andrew started out in ministry as a youth pastor in 1997 in his local church in the North-east of England.
Andrew is passionate about developing leaders and seeing people find their place in the local church.
He is a fantastic communicator who has been inspiring young people for more than 15 years.
Andrew’s ten years in youth ministry at Xcel Church, Newton Aycliffe, provided a great foundation and valuable experience as he has workied in local high schools, organised mission trips across Europe and spoken into the lives of young people at weekly youth gatherings.
He is married to Louise and they have a young family so life is never dull. However, Andrew still finds time to play and watch the beautiful game of football.
Prior to the youth event in the evening, on the Saturday morning a special men’s breakfast was held at Symposium Coffee House at the Lido.
It was also well attended and featured an inspirational talk from Andrew and a roundtable discussion with church leaders.
The following morning, Andrew also gave an inspiring talk to a packed Apex congregation.
Commenting on the weekend’s events, Apex youth and community Pastor, Daniel Sutherland, told the Buchannie: “I’m delighted with the success of Limitless 2013.
“It was a pleasure to host so many young people from various north east churches.
“It was a great turnout and I really appreciate their support on the night.”
“It was great to see so many passionate young people excited about their faith.”
“I’d like to thank Pastor Andrew Cherrie for being with us for the event - and at the men’s breakfast in the morning - and sharing an inspirational message which has impacted so many young people.”
Daniel also expressed thanks to the Thrive Band for leading everyone in worship and to everyone who volunteered to help out on the night.
Apex Church believes that life is about connecting with God, connecting with people and connecting with purpose.
Its prayer is that Apex Church will become a place of grace and growth for you and your family.
