A fundraising Zumba class was recently held in Mintlaw Academy by local instructor & Active Schools coach Angie Urquhart, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
‘Zumba For Life’ was organised by an enthusiastic team of Mintlaw Academy girls known as ‘The Builders’ who are one of the teams entered for the Relay For Life in July.
They have spent the last few weeks advertising and selling tickets for this charity event. The Builders and Angie would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported them and raised an amazing £360.
The next fundraiser will be a quiz night in the Garret Bar in Mintlaw on Friday, April 19 at 8pm. Teams of four are invited to compete with entry costing £10 per team. For more details phone 07557108718.
Angie told the Buchanie: “The atmosphere at the event was brilliant with over 90 people of all ages joining in and giving it their all. This was one of the greatest fundraisers I have been involved in!
“The girls have been a pleasure to work with and are a credit to themselves and their school.”
Lorraine Coleman, chair of Relay For Life Peterhead added: “We are so delighted at the enthusiastic spirit by the teams in rasing money for Cancer Research UK.
“Some 18 teams, 31 survivors and three carers have registered so far for the 24-hour team relay at the Catto Park Peterhead on July 6-7.
“A large number of the participants are under 18 and like this very successful Zumba event, it is so pleasing to see them taking the lead and participating in the fundraising.
“This relay is open to anyone in the North-east of Scotland who would like to join in fundraising to help cancer sufferers to have fun & friendship.”
