SATURDAY night fever has hit Peterhead as fans prepare to welcome one of today’s biggest pop acts to the Blue Toon.
The Saturdays will be headlining the first ever Blue Toon Rox event which will be held at Balmoor Stadium on Saturday, and it’s set to be a fantastic night of music with brilliant signed band Kassius and local talent Stephen Innes and Raw Stereo also on the bill.
106 FM were announced as ticket sponsors for this weekend’s gig at the weekend, and from now until Friday 5pm they are offering a spectacular deal on tickets.
Members of the public can buy two tickets for the event for the cost of just £40 - saving them an amazing £30! However, this can only be done through the Original 106 FM website at www.originalfm.com where a link to the offer can be found. This offer and special price can only be accessed through the Original FM website and cannot be taken advantage of anywhere else, so be sure to get your tickets while stocks last!
The open air concert will be held at the home of Peterhead FC and starts at 7pm.
Meanwhile, one of Peterhead’s largest employers, ASCO Group, is also backing chart-toppers The Saturdays to raise money for Peterhead Football Club and Macmillan Cancer Support, and has agreed to be the main sponsor for this weekend’s event.
ASCO operates the offshore supply base at Peterhead, employing around 300 people locally. The company employs more than 1,600 people in locations around the world.
Commenting on the link-up with Blue Toon Rox, Peterhead operations director Jamie Marr said: “We’re delighted to be main sponsors for what will be a fabulous event. As well as being a great event for our staff, I’m sure this event will be supported by thousands of people throughout the local community. It’s also great to see that the money raised is going towards such good causes.”
He added: “It’s also good to see the local town attract such a big name in the world of pop music and hopefully this will lead to similar events in the future.”
This was a sentiment echoed by Peterhead FC chairman, Rodger Morrison, who hopes the event will lead to Blue Toon Rox being a regular fixture on the summer calendar.
“It’s fantastic to have secured The Saturdays for the inaugural Blue Toon Rox and there’s definitely a buzz about town as the weekend approaches,” he said.
“A lot of planning and organisation has gone into bringing The Saturdays to town and hopefully there will be plenty of folk there to enjoy what is expected to be a fantastic night of music.
“Hopefully we can look at hosting a similar event next year. It’s definitely been a learning curve for all involved and it’s now full steam ahead for the weekend,” he added.
Doors open on Saturday at 5pm and the concert will run from 7pm to 10pm. Please note tickets will still be on sale at the club on the Saturday - so don’t miss out!
For those looking for a bit of VIP treatment on the night, the club is still offering hospitality packages available by calling Jenna on (01779) 478256.
