BUCHAN Heritage Society enjoyed another high quality evening from its ‘Young Entertainers of the Year’ with excellent support in song from Bill Gray our compere for the evening along with John Stuart on the accordion.

John has moved into the area recently and will be in great demand for his first class performances on accordion.

Judges this year were Mr and Mrs Gibson Ross, who most of you will associate with Turriff, Ross Records and the Auld Meal Mill Concert in the Music Hall each year, and committee member and treasurer Liz Inglis.

As usual they had a very difficult task, as all the performers are already winners.

However, Rosie Stephen, from Fraserburgh won the junior section with Nadia Raduncheva, also Fraserburgh in second place and Sorcha Gall from Huntly taking third place.

Iona Fyfe from Huntly, who has been a regular at our festivals since she very young, won the senior section with George Davidson from Tarves coming second and Annie Lennox from Cornhill third.

The next meeting in Longside Parish Church (note the venue) is on Wednesday, October 17 with the Strathbogie Fiddlers followed in November by a Doric service in St Andrew’s Church Peterhead on Sunday 18th at 6.30pm.

The annual St Andrews Ceilidh at Strichen is on Friday, November 30 with music from The Garioch Blend and entertainment from Sarah Walker, Garlogie and the Davidson Boys from Tarves.
