Peterhead’s Dales Park School held their annual Singer of the Year competition earlier this month.
The evening was hosted by head teacher Scott Anderson, and featured solo performances from six finalists in the junior category and eight finalists in the senior category along with performances from the 35-strong School Choir, the Junior Vocal Group and the Rhythmic Gymnastics Club.
Heartfelt thanks were extended to three companies who sponsored the event allowing staff to purchase medals for each of the finalists, winner’s trophies for the two winners to keep and two winners shields to be engraved and kept in school for the next ten years.
These companies were Donald’s, Stagecoach and Peterhead Rotary Club and the children.
Dales Park was also lucky enough to have the support from some other local companies for their raffle with award-winning beauty salon Aqueous donating a voucher, Stagecoach donating a Mega Rider voucher and Morrisons donating a fantastic variety of outdoor games and equipment which even included a paddling pool!
The judging panel comprised Irene Adam, head of expressive arts at Peterhead Academy who already has a great link with Dales Park, Reverend James MacMillan, who is very supportive of every event the school runs and Jennifer Adam, Dales Park’s very own depute head. They had the difficult job of deciding a winner.
The Junior runner-up was announced as Shannon Davidson in Primary 3 with Aimee Clark, also in Primary 3, named the winner and the Senior runner-up for the second year running was announced as Eve Donovan in Primary 6 with Grac Johnston, last year’s Junior winner, from Primary 4 as the winner of the Senior competition.
Miss Sutherland, Mrs Ramsay and Miss Smith would like to thank all of the finalists,School Choir, Junior Vocal Group and the Rhythmic Gymnastics club for their hard work and dedication over the last few weeks. The young performers are a credit to the school.
