Five P7 pupils from Dales Park School Learning Centre in Peterhead recently completed a ten-week progressive Life Skills programme.
They celebrated their achievement by hosting a picnic for their families where they had to write invitations, create a shopping list, buy items of food and make sandwiches for the picnic.
The picnic was a great success and pupils and parents had a very enjoyable morning.
Over the past ten weeks, the pupils have been learning valuable life skills such as crossing the road safely, how to take the bus into town, how to order food in a cafe, finding and buying food, preparing food and using their manners. when speaking to members of the public.
The programme aimed to equip the pupils with skills they will need to help them with their transition to the academy and beyond.
The programme would not have been possible without the help of Stagecoach bus company who generously gave the group free pass travel for the entirety of the ten weeks.
Stagecoach also provided a much appreciated cake for the celebration picnic. The group has thanked Stagecoach for the donation and for allowing them to practice their life skills in a real life situation.
Thanks were also expressed to the Bank of Scotland for taking the time to talk to the children and answer their questions and to Peterhead Library for showing the pupils how to use the facilities at the library and doing an enjoyable quiz with them.
All pupils have thoroughly enjoyed the ten weeks and gained a lot from the programme.
