Academy pupils part of The Big Picture
Peterhead Academy pupils have participated in The Big Picture as part of Lloyds Banking Group’s commitment to supporting business growth in Scotland.
The Big Picture dinner event featured Career Academies as part of the inspirational debate considering business challenges and opportunities in Aberdeen and the North East.
Bank of Scotland Area Director, Stuart White, and his team kindly offered two tables, which were enthusiastically accepted by Career Academy students from Peterhead Academy and their Career Academy Co-ordinator, Keith Mullan.
A number of the students’ mentors from Petrofac, Subsea 7, Centrica and Score Group also attended.
The students were great ambassadors for Career Academies as they networked their socks off during the reception, and when interviewed by Gavin Esler, BBC Newsnight, offered the benefits of being involved in Career Academies as part of the economic debate.
Peterhead Academy pupil, Kira Cook said: “This event opened our eyes to the world of business and how it is evolving around us.
“The event began with time for networking which allowed us to mingle with many business leaders and people high in their field of work.
“I spoke to Dr James S Milne, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Balmoral Group who introduced me to people he believed would be interested in Career Academies.
“The event was hosted by Graham Blair, Area Director of SME Banking Scotland North, with Gavin Essler from BBC’s Newsnight instigating.
Kira added: “I found this event incredibly informative and useful as it has helped to build my confidence when talking to new people and forging new business links.”
