Fraserburgh couple set up North East Giveaways competition business
A North-east couple believe they are on to a winner with their new business idea – and many other people could be winners too.
Mark and Simone Ritchie, from Fraserburgh, have set up North East Giveaways, offering a wide range of competitions on their website.
And as well as creating a successful business, the enterprising couple are aiming to ensure their venture supports local charities too.
Their site features competitions for a host of items, including TVs, a smart watch, Lego set, XBox Series X, a car, cash prizes and much more.
Simone said: “We decided to go ahead with the business in late 2019 after Mark found himself out of a job.
“We were aware of similar businesses of this kind based down south and, after a win of his own, Mark decided to start North East Giveaways.
“We want to bring that same feeling to other people that we felt when Mark won. It’s great seeing the excitement on the faces of our winners when we deliver their prizes!”
While the Covid-19 lockdown and personal circumstances delayed the launch, the business finally went live in December.
Simone continued: “With time, as our following gets larger, the prizes will too. We have met some wonderful people and made some smiles along the way – that's what it's all about.
“At North East Giveaways we believe that supporting small, independent businesses is important (especially just now), so we try our best to involve as many of them as we can in our weekly free giveaways to help get them and us a little more advertising. The more we grow, the more people we can reach, its all about supporting each other.
“We hope, as time goes on, to be involved in local charities and organisations in the local and surrounding communities. We have a current competition from which all profits go towards the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets and their new HQ. Any help is a big help – it all builds up.”
Simone added that the North East Giveaways business is fully registered, and hopes that as the business grows and the prizes on offer get bigger that this will attract more customers – they like to to call them the ‘NEG Clan’ – and more winners.
