Lodge St James enters its bicentennial year
Lodge St James No 256 will be 200 years old in August next year.
And to celebrate the momentous occasion, the Masonic Lodge will be re-dedicated by a deputation from the Grand Lodge of Scotland led by Grand Master Mason Charles Ian Robert Wolridge Gordon of Esselmont.
Following on from the ceremony there will be a dinner in the Peterhead Masonic Social Club.
Many officebearers from the Lodge have been busy over the summer season organising various events which will mark this special year for the Lodge.
New regalia has been purchased for the Lodge officebearers, with bicentenary Jewels and Mark Tokens being designed along with new ties. Various other items have been discussed and are in the final process of being agreed.
With all these things coming at a cost, the Lodge has been over the summer, and will be over the next year, actively fundraising to support the huge cost of the 2014 celebrations.
A quiz night was held in the club back in June and the tombola stall and wheel of fortune made an impression at the start of Scottish Week.
The next fundraiser is a race night at the Peterhead Masonic Social Club on Saturday, September 14 at 7.30pm.
Alan Paterson of Lodge St James said: “Such fundraisers are only successful if they are well attended. I would like to appeal to all Lodge St James members - past and present - tocome along and support the Lodge in its fundraising efforts.
“If you are proud to call yourself a St James member, we need your support in this important year.
“Meanwhile, the Lodge will be back working again on Tuesday, October 1 and weekly thereafter.
“If you haven’t been in a while, don’t worry - come along, the RWM, officebearers and brethern will be only too happy to see you again.”
