Golf fanatics will be pleased to hear that one of the most famous golfer’s in the UK will be making his way to Aberdeen this summer for an exclusive event in the city’s Music Hall.
Crowds will have the rare opportunity to hear Sir Nick Faldo share some of the inside stories of his reign as one of the most successful European golfers of all time.
The businessman and broadcaster will be chipping in with his talents as a humourous and engaging speaker for An Evening with Sir Nick Faldo on Saturday, July 12.
Aberdeen Performing Arts director of programming and creative projects, Ben Torrie: “With golf fever hitting the city as some of the game’s best hit the links at Royal Aberdeen, it is fantastic that Sir Nick is taking time out to spend an evening entertaining the Aberdeen public with tales from his illustrious career.
“He is one of the great personalities of the modern game, and it will surely be a memorable evening – a hole in one for APA!”
Sir Nick, who is the only UK living golfer to be knighted by the Queen for his contributions to the sport, watched the 1971 Masters on his parents’ colour television when he was only aged 14 and hadn’t even picked up a golf club.
It took him just three years to become a successful British amateur and at aged 20 he was the youngest player ever to qualify for the Ryder Cup.
Fast forward thirty years, and the golfer has won six major championships, more than 40 tournament victories and spent a total of 98 weeks as the world’s number one golfer.
Sir Nick has been more involved in the business of golf thanks to the launch of Faldo Enterprises.
Businesses and initiatives under the Faldo umbrella include his world-renowned golf course design company - Faldo Design - currently involved with over 50 projects on six continents and a programme for aspiring young golfers - The Faldo Series.
The sportscaster has also delved into a career as a television commentator.
