Red Brick Theatre Group are preparing their new innovative show for their sixth season with special effects never seen before, and with just eight weeks to go, it is all hands on deck.
The group’s show, Fantasia, will be performed at Peterhead Community Theatre on June 20, 21 and 22.
RBTG started out in 2007, with a small band of five people who had a love of theatre but wanted to offer the Community the chance to learn about and partake in Musical Theatre.
They never imagined it would grow so big, the last six years have taken blood, sweat and tears, but each show and cause is worth it.
The group have all learnt so much and have gone out of their way to be able to continue.
Their first show, ‘Night at the Movies’, was performed with 32 children aged 10 to 21 and sold out, now the group stands with over 100 members and 56 people on the waiting list.
The group would not exist without the help of their adult volunteers and senior helpers who give up many of their hours to benefit the community.
Anyone running a voluntary group will understand all the hard work involved and the group would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of their volunteers.
The total raised over the years RBTG has been running has been over £11,000 and many local groups, projects and charities have benefited from it.
Each year, the group holds a Halloween themed party to allow members old and new to bond, and get to know each other and it is also a good night for the children to have fun before the hard work starts.
RBTG have also given opportunities to their adult volunteers and older members including sending one adult helper to Glasgow Performing Arts College to do a vocal course for the benefit of the group, and are looking into doing this for some of the older seniors.
They have also taken a group of members to His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen to see how a big theatre works behind the scenes. RBTG purchased their own sound and light equipment, and train the older members to use them.
They also have theatre attendants who help with the Cinema and Technicians who have helped with the Panto.
RBTG have been an active group in Peterhead’s community attending various events including Scottish week, JogScotland, Peterhead Open Harbour Day, carol singing in old peoples homes, and out an about performing in primary schools as well as holding very successful Easter and summer workshops for children during holiday time, held competitions to design programme covers, organised free Christmas concerts and also Bingo teas.
Red Brick Theatre Group would like to take the opportunity to thank family, friends, local people and businesses who have shown their support in so many ways and continue to do so.
Tickets for Fantasia are £6 and will be on sale from Thursday, May 16 available from RBTG members, or at the back door of Peterhead Community Theatre from 6pm until 8pm each Thursday night, but hurry as they will go fast!
