A BUCHAN theatrical group is looking for big-hearted panto lovers to help it stage its first production.
Hatton Amateur Theatrical Society (HATS) is busy planning its very own interpretation of panto favourite Cinderella and hopes to encourage local businesses to help with costumes, lighting and stage design.
Rehearsals are already underway as the 20-strong group hopes that December’s performances at Hatton Village Hall will be a huge success.
The performers, who range in age from 11 to 65, look forward to “lifting the spirits” of Hatton villagers this Christmas.
HATS performer and committee member Lee Radford (45), said that the idea for a pantomime came about earlier in the year when fellow Hatton resident and chairman of the newly-formed HATS group, Tony Beacom, placed a notice in the village shop.
Father-of-two Lee said: “A bunch of us got together and held a meeting and decided that we wanted to pull together and try to retain that community spirit that seems to be so difficult to hang on to. We want to lift people’s spirits.”
Lee, who landed the part of Dandini at a recent casting session, says that cast and helpers look forward to delighting audiences with three performances from December 9.
“We even have a panto horse,” says Lee. “We call him the Buchan Bronco - or Buchanie for short!”
The group rehearse twice per week at The Hatton Mill lounge.
Lee added: “Anyone interested in joining in with the fun can get in touch with me. We would be happy to find something to for everyone to do whether it be performing in the chorus or helping behind the scenes.”
Anyone who can help HATS stage this fantastic new production should get in touch with Lee at firstname.lastname@example.org
Performances are at 7.30pm on Friday December 9, a matinee at 2.30pm and evening show at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 10.
Tickets are £6 (£5 concession and £4 children) and are available from August 27 by calling Michelle Beacom on 07957956403.
