Scottish Dancing sessions to begin

The Peterhead branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society begins its winter session on Wednesday, September 9.

The classes, 20 in total, will be held at Longside Village Hall and will begin at 7.30pm.

Qualified teacher Morag Barclay from Aberdeen, who has taught the class for several years, will be returning.

Classes last for two and a half hours and entry is £4 with reduction for annual members.

After a brief warm-up, those attending will dance jigs, reels and strathspeys to recorded music.

Some of the dances are old favourites and some are new, but Morag knows them all.

There will be a good mix of experienced and new dancers with beginners getting all the help they need.

It is not necessary to bring a partner as members rarely dance with the same person twice.

Dancers do not need to be super-fit, but everyone benefits from the exercise.

The Peterhead branch of the RSCDS has been running for over 70 years but is looking forward to the new session.
