Buchan Meadows Community Woodland initiative is hosting an early-evening open day.
An open invitation has gone out to the public for the event on Wednesday, July 29 from 4pm to see for themselves the work being undertaken at the woodland on the Kinmundy Road just off the ringroad.
Managed by Peterhead Projects Limited, the 43-acres of woodland is leased from local engineering company Score Group and provides a fantastic outdoor venue for environmental activities for all ages.
Community woodland officer Lewis Swales explained: “We will have a range of activities including bushskills, fun games and maybe even a few guests will be appearing at the woodland.
“The funding from Community Spaces and SITA Trust hascenable PPL to engage with community volunteers to improve access to the woodland for the benefit of the wider public.
“We cannot thank Score Group enough for leasing us the woodland as that major commitment paved the way for two hugely-important funding injections to safeguard the Buchan Meadows woodland project.”
The Community Spaces funding secured a two-year contract for a dedicated Community Woodland Officer to host activity sessions and tours, alongside development of certain areas of the woodland to include guided walks, outdoor gym, picnic area and a programme of educational and community events.
The intended beneficiaries of this project are local schools and youth groups as well as the wider local population and visitors to the area.
