IT WAS all smiles at Longside this weekend, as the sun came out especially for the annual gala.
Around 5,000 visitors donned their shorts and sunhats and took to the fields of Longside, for a two-day programme of dancing, singing, music, shows, activities and entertainment.
New for this year, the truck show proved popular with visitors, who also marvelled at classic and newer cars at the static car show. Revellers young and old provided an array of song and dance, proving that Longside really has got talent with a special L-Factor competition. Gala committee chairman Norman Smith said that the weekend was one of the best yet. He said: “It was a great weekend. The weather was superb - we couldn’t have asked for better. It was so nice that we moved Longside’s Got Talent to the outside stage.
“The gala really is going from strength to strength. The truck show went down really well, it really was excellent.”
Now it’s time for the gala’s organisers to take a well deserved break - but only for a little while, as plans for next year’s event get underway in the next few weeks!
