Peterhead Harbours Open Day organisers are delighted to announce that a Fish Filleting Competition will take place at the Saturday, August 9 event.
Kindly supported by Passionate About Fish, the competition will demonstrate the filleting skills regularly used to prepare fish for consumers.
The entries will be judged by expert Fishmongers Duncan and Sue Lucas from Passionate about Fish.
Points will be awarded for technique, speed, yield, hygiene and presentation.
The exciting 1st place prize is £100 plus a filleting knife, with cash prizes and filleting knives awarded to those awarded 2nd and 3rd place on the day.
Passionate About Fish attend many of the major UK seafood festivals and support the Fishermen’s Mission.
Peterhead Fishermen’s Mission Superintendent, Steve Murray, commented: “We are thrilled to have Duncan and Sue joining us with their wealth of experience.
“Duncan holds many awards including the Guinness World for filleting halibut.
He added: “We are looking forward to a competitive event which brings some of the most skilled employees from the local fish industry out of the filleting rooms and into the spotlight.”
The Fish Filleting Competition is open to all over 18 years, including any filleter who may no longer be actively working.
