Family bike ride heads to Aden

FAMILIES and individuals are being encouraged to get on their bikes this Spring to take part in Buchan’s first family-friendly bike ride.

The cycling event will take place on Sunday, March 18, and will take in some of the most beautiful sights in the Buchan area.

The ‘Aden Bike Challenge’ is a scenic ten-mile trail which will start from Peterhead Community Centre, go along the Formartine and Buchan Way and will end in Aden Country Park, Mintlaw.

On arrival at Aden each participant will receive a warm welcome, event memento, certificate and a goody bag.

In addition there will be a range of activities, facilities, exhibition stalls, stands on offer, including a ‘Bike Road Show’ and plans for a farmers market. So whether you plan to participate in the event or simply fancy an enjoyable afternoon, Aden Country Park will offer a great family day out.

A predominantly traffic-free cycle rout, the event is suitable for everyone regardless of boking experience or fitness, it’s definitely not a race!

Individuals, friends, families and groups are all very welcome to go along for a wonderful biking day out in bonny Buchan.

An optional shuttle bus and lorry transport service is also available from Aden Country Park, at both the beginning and end of the event to ferry participants, their bikes and supporters from Aden to the start line in Peterhead.

Event participants can register at either Aden Country Park or the start line at Peterhead Community Centre.

Registration will be open from 9.30am to 1.30pm at Aden Country Park and from 10.30am until 2.30pm at Peterhead.

Entry is only £6 per adult and £3 per child/young person (17 years and under).

Participants aged 16 years old and under require signed parental/guardian consent to take part and children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult on the bike ride.

The Aden Bike Challenge is programmed to be part of the Buchan’s Feeling Good Festival, promoting health and wellbeing and the benefits of cycling as a sociable and active way to improve physical and mental health in the Buchan area.
