Buchanhaven Heritage Society will soon be announcing an exciting list of events and exhibitions to be held at the Buchanhaven Heritage Centre on Peterhead’s Ugie Road.
After some careful planning, the society is expected to start delivering a new phase of its work never seen before and currently the group is actively preparing the final stages of these events.
Since starting its work in May 2012, the society has seen a significant increase in visitor numbers, organised a wide range of activities both inside and outside in the surrounding area and delivered all key tasks in its community action plan, following aPlanning for Real event in June 2012.
Exhibitions ranging from WWII to the industries of Peterhead and events that include vintage teas, to arts, crafts and performing arts demonstrations have all graced the former school in Buchanhaven.
In addition to the events, the society released the first book ever on the history of Buchanhaven with Edition II expected by Christmas 2014, and were successful in getting a renowned sand artist to demonstrate his work at the Craigewan Sands in 2013.
Early indications are that the society are about to bring some unusual events to the area and this will fully support their existing intergenerational work in the town.
Society vice-chair Elizabeth Milne said: “ We are so excited at the events still to come in 2014 and beyond and really want to thank the whole community for their continued support. Every event sees a real buzz in the centre and to see our aims and objectives now coming alive is a very special feeling for us all.
“I am sure as the events and exhibitions unfold, our loyal supporters will not be disappointed and we hope to open our doors not only to old friends but to many new visitors very soon.”
