A girl in a bottle has been caught in fishing nets at Peterhead Harbour, with a note to send to Zippos Circus.

Strange things happen at sea, but this was one of the more unusual catches for Caley Fisheries Ltd.

Odka, an 18-year-old contortionist from Mongolia, was found inside a bottle in the nets on Thursday, July 10 at Peterhead Harbour, just a mile from the site where Zippos Circus’ 2014 production Unchained is based.

Astonished performers from Zippos Circus, the World famous Ringmaster Norman Barrett MBE and clowning royalty from the Rastelli’s, were delighted with their unusual message in a bottle and will give her a starring role in the production.

Longtime fisherman George McGee, who works for the nets department of Caley Fisheries Ltd said: “The Company has been operation for over 76 years and now supplies nets to over 60 boats in the area, during that time our nets have caught some unusual things but this is the most bizarre!”

The multi award winning Zippos Circus opened at The Links in Peterhead on Friday, July 11 as part of their UK wide tour.
