Singer-songwriter Benny Gallagher will perform at Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree next month.

A founder member of 1970s band McGuinness Flint, hit-making duo Gallagher and Lyle and an original member Ronnie Lane and The Slim Chance, Gallagher will be in concert at the city venue on Sunday, October 19.

He will perform the hits he penned in the 70s which have since been recorded by a host of international artistes.

It was his and Graham Lyle’s astute composing abilities that propelled McGuinness Flint to the top of the charts with their songs “When I’m Dead and Gone” and “Malt and Barley Blues”.

After a brief, but rewarding “dalliance” as members of Ronnie Lane and The Slim Chance, playing on the hit singles “How Come”, “The Poacher” and the ensuing album ‘Any More for Anymore”, the duo enjoyed their own successes – the richly romantic “Heart on my Sleeve” and “I Wanna Stay With You”.

On record he has worked with Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Pete Townsend, Ronnie Lane, Ronnie Wood, Gary Brooker and Elkie Brooks.

Gallagher has toured Australia, the Middle and Far East, Europe, and the UK as bassist/vocalist with The Manfreds.

Tickets for the gig are available by calling 01224 64112 or by visiting www.aberdeenperformingarts.com.

They can also be purchased by visiting Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.
