Stichen Community Council are on the look out for new members. In past years, Strichen has been one of the most active of the community councils in Buchan and now fear that the declining memberships will lead to a significant reeducation in their activities unless they can persuade local people to join them.
The Secretary, Stan Tennant, said: “We would like to appeal to residents of the village of Strichen and its surrounds, who have an interest and pride in their area, to come forward and volunteer to help maintain one of the most active and involved community organisations in Buchan. Strichen and district CC has always fared extremely well in local environmental affairs such as the annual Buchan in Bloom competition but they have succeeded mainly due to the efforts of a small number of individuals who are able and prepared to spare a few hours of their time to improve the environment of the village and area.”
“We have a meeting once a month in Strichen and would be delighted if any local residents, who would like to help, are prepared to come along and join. Our next meeting is at 7.30pm on Monday August 27 at Strichen Town Hall, or they can give me a call: 01771637749 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and I can help with any queries they may have.”
