All roads lead to Strichen for festival

Buchan Heritage Society wil hold its pre-festival dance on Friday, May 22, in the Ritchie Hall, Strichen at 8pm.

Music for the evening will be provided by ‘The Garioch Blend’.

Tickets, priced at £6, are available by calling (01771) 637344. All are welcome.

Meanwhile, Saturday sees a day of various competitions beginning at 9.30am.

So if you pipe, recite, sing, fiddle, or play accordion, keyboard, piano or recorder, head along and compete in any of the competitions. Check the website for rules. Spectators are welcome. Between 12noon and 1pm various artists will perform at the dinner time concert.

Folk are invited to go along, have some stovies or macaroni, and enjoy the atmosphere and music.

A new competition for this year’s event is The Scottish Diddling Championship which commences at 2pm in the Ritchie Hall.

The ever popular prize winner’s concert, which will again be compered by Robbie Shepherd, begins in the Ritchie Hall at 6.30pm followed by a Ceilidh at 9pm. Tickets are priced at £6

This year’sfFestival culminates with a farewell ceilidh in the Royal British Legion Hall at 2pm

Please go along and enjoy the traditional word and music of the Buchan area.

There will also be a photographic exhibition this year, where a selection of the photographs submitted to the society’s 2014 competition will be on show.

It will be held in the Ritchie Hall on Saturday, May 23 from 10am until 2pm.

The title for this year’s photographic competition is ‘The Wonders of Nature’.The Flora and Fauna of Buchan are unsurpassable in any season.
