Young Toon swimmers continue to enjoy success

Peterhead Amateur Swimming club held its distance championships on September 17 and 24.

There were some really good swims and overall trophy winners were as follows:

200 Fly (13 years and under) - Erin Reekie; 200 IM (13 years and under) - Erin Reekie and Aidan Low; 200 IM (14 years and over) - Lauren Thomson and Conner Morrison; 200 Free (13 years and under) - Erin Reekie and Aidan Low; 400 Free (14 years and over) - Lauren Thomson and Conner Morrison; 200 Breast (13 years and under) - Erin Reekie and Aidan Low.

200 Breast (14 years and over) - Lauren Thomson and Conner Morrison; 200 Back (13 years and under) - Elaine Murray and Blair Reekie; 200 Back (14 years and over) - Lauren Thomson and Conner Morrison; 400 IM (13 years and under) - Erin Reekie and Aidan Low; 400 IM (14 years and over) - Lauren Thomson and Conner Morrison,

Congratulations were expressed to Elaine Murray for breaking her own 11 years and under 200m Back and setting a new 400IM club record.

Meanwhile, after an exhaustingly long day at Westhill on Saturday, September 20, the Peterhead Amateur Swimming Club youngsters did great and had some super swims.

Club members Harvey Buchan, Ebonnie Buchan and Skye Strachan all made the finals and had to swim their finals straight after the Freestyle relays.

In the afternoon, the youngsters continued the trend with good swims and more PBs. Harvey Buchan made the final of the Breaststroke and finished in first place with a gold medal.

Fellow member Ellie Buchan excelled in her afternoon events. She made the final of the Backstroke and Butterfly and had to swim both finals after the Medlay relay. Ellie swam brilliantly and managed to get a PB again in her Butterfly swim.

Head coach Marie Cheyne said: “All of the Peterhead ASC boys and girls relay teams did well and cheered each other on all the way.”
