X-Country success for club juniors

The final meet in the North Aberdeenshire Schools X-Country series was held on Saturday, March 7.

This was the culmination of a series events held at Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Haddo and Aden Country Park in Mintlaw.

Peterhead Athletics Club individual medal winners were as follows: Primary 4: Ellie McGee (1st girls), Cameron Robertson (1st boys).

Primary 5: Shonie Strachan (2nd girls).

Secondary: Elle Robertson (2nd girls), Caitlain Willox (3rd girls).

The club won both the Primary and Secondary Club shield - this is awarded to the athletics club with the most points over the five races.

Ailsa Hood, Sophie Willox, Emily McGee, Arran McGee and Nathan Mill also contributed valuable points.

Peterhead Academy, who were represented by all Peterhead AC members, were clear winners in the academy shield ahead of Ellon, Meldrum, Turriff, Fraserburgh and Mintlaw.

The club wishes to extend its thanks to Fraserburgh Running Club and Active Schools for organising the series.

The club has 50 juniors at its Tuesday training sessions held at Catto Park at 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
