Scottish Sports Futures has announced the continuation of its partnership with Shell as title sponsor of Twilight Basketball, which will provide support worth £90,000 over three years.
Shell Twilight Basketball is designed to encourage integration, healthy lifestyles and good citizenship, and aims to develop new skills and to sustain participation in sport.
Currently running 10 programmes across Scotland with a further two new areas launching soon, Shell Twilight Basketball is delivered by professional Glasgow Rocks basketball players, mainly on Friday evenings, and is supported by the Scottish Government’s Cashback for Communities Scheme - a programme of free sports, arts and business activities for young Scots (aged 10 –19), which is funded by money taken from the proceeds of crime. CashBack also supports Jump2it, a basketball initiative aimed at primary school pupils.
Shell’s Fiona Bayne said: “Shell Twilight Basketball is an exciting initiative that is making a real contribution to social inclusion by giving young people the opportunity to make a number of positive choices for their futures while having fun and learning vital skills.”
Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Kenny MacAskill MSP, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the announcement by Shell today that they are to continue their support of the Twilight Basketball project. “
