Peterhead sea anglers do battle for the flatfish

Peterhead Sea Angling Club hosted two competitions recently.

Matches were held between the Buchanhaven pier and Rattray Head. Flatfish only for two categories with a prize for the longest flatfish except turbot, and one for the longest turbot. Only fish that meet the nationally

recognised minimums are measured and anglers are requested to return any

fish they are not keeping for personal use that they are not submitting for

measuring to the sea.

On May 12 the largest flatfish - a 30cm specimen - was landed by Steve, but no turbot caught reached the legal minimum therefore Steve won the £90 kitty.

£18 then went towards a

fish off at end of season for club members who enter or pay into at least eight competitions. On May 26, the largest flatfish was 31cm landed by Ian Craig. Ian took the whole kitty of £70 - £10 going towards the fish-off.
