Peterhead boxer Artur Selivanos was victorious in his second ever professional fight last weekend at the Grangemouth Sports Centre.
‘King Artur’ came out on top against the experienced ‘Crazy’ Qasim Hussain, winning on a points decision of 40-36.
Artur controlled the fight from range as soon as the first bell rang.
He was using his jab to set up fast combinations to body and head but Qasim had a high guard and was doing well to block some of the attacks.
In the second round Artur targeted the body of Qasim to try and get the high guard of his opponent to drop so he could get more head shots on target, another round in the bank for Artur.
At the start of the 3rd round Artur hurt Qasim with a body shot just under his left elbow and that caused Qasim to resort to different tactics and live up to his monicker of ‘Crazy’.
He tried to goad Artur in to a war by dropping his hands and talking trash but this didn’t phase Artur who carried on picking his opponent off at range with Qasim near the end also being given a warning by the referee for his continued talking.
By the fourth round it was clear that Artur wanted to show Qasim who was boss and started to really dig the body shots in with a bit more venom.
His combination punching to the head was also more spiteful.
Qasim, to his credit, used all of his 60+ fight experience to try and frustrate Artur but it wasn’t enough for him to win any round.
Artur was declared the winner by referee Kenny Pringle by a points margin of 40-36.
‘I would just like to thank the all of the fans from Peterhead and Aberdeen that travelled to support me at the weekend, I always want to put on a show for you guys and I hope that you enjoyed it.” Said Artur.
“I want to keep winning and I hope that I can convince more of the great fans in Peterhead to follow my career.”
Artur’s Manager, David McAllister, added: “Artur was in with an experienced fighter on Saturday and he handled the situation brilliantly.
“He didn’t lose his cool when Qasim tried to get into his head and showed great variety of punches throughout the 4 rounds.
“Next up I will be looking to get Artur another fight just after the summer before he boxes again in our Aberdeen show on November 12 at the Beach Ballroom.”
Tickets for the show in Aberdeen will go on sale in July, priced at £100 VIP which includes ringside seat and 3 course meal, with boxing only tickets £50 and £60.
