An Aberdeenshire teenager taking part in this year’s Scottish Motocross Championships has secured sponsorship from a North-east green recycling firm.
John Kirk, 18, from Auchterless, who has competed competitively in the sport since he was six years old, is being backed by Keenan Recycling.
Brothers Grant and Gregor Keenan, who run the New Deer organics recycling company, are both keen motorcyclists and this fuelled their interest in supporting the young rider in this year’s championship.
The Scottish Motocross Championships consists of six rounds with races taking part across Scotland. The first round of the competition got into gear last weekend in Tain and although John had a bad first race, he accelerated into first place in the second and third races, leaving him in second place overall for the day.
The second round is taking place next month at Shiplaw Motocross Track in Perthshire.
