Junior golfers progress in north section of Off the Tee Trophy

Four members of Peterhead Golf Club Junior Team celebrated winning the North Section of the Off the Tee Trophy, at Peterhead’s Craigewan Links recently.

Team captain Josh Bruce, partnered by James Stephen dominated their semi-final match against Murcar winning 5 up.

The second pairing of Liam Stephen and David (Jimmy) MacKinnon had a very tight tie against Murcar finishing all square.

This result saw the Peterhead boys progress to the afternoon final against local rivals Cruden Bay.

This final saw Cruden Bay’s first pairing of Ellis Roberts and Scott Watson teeing up against Peterhead’s Josh Bruce and James Stephen followed by Cruden Bay’s second pairing of Curtis Stephen and Cameron Gray teeing up against Liam Stephen and David (Jimmy) MacKinnon.

Peterhead’s partnership of Josh and James again produced a solid performance winning their match 6 up.

This left a significant margin for Peterhead’s second pairing who were one down heading to the 18th.

The win over Cruden Bay see’s Peterhead play against the other section winners, Peterculter, Newmacher and Deeside in the regional final.

An excellent standard of golf was on show all day from the youngsters and all matches were played in great spirit. Something that was noted by the attending parents and officials.
