On Sunday, March 18, Buchan Indoor Bowling Club at Mintlaw played host to a Scottish Youth Indoor Bowling Association Top Ten quarter final match.
A strong junior team from Blantyre I.B.C. including the current National Singles and National Triples champions at under 17 level, travelled north to play the juniors of Buchan I.B.C.
The match was very keenly-contested in front of a very large and vocal home support who were treated to some excellent bowling from both teams.
The more experienced Blantyre team, however, ran out the winners by 5pts to 3pts with 57 shots to 51 shots, but the Buchan juniors put up a good fight.
The match results were as follows:
Singles - Buchan (Michael Paterson) 18, Blantyre 21
Pairs - Buchan (Daniel Jackson & Robert Marshall) 10, Blantyre 10
Triples - Buchan (Sophie Anderson, Steven Melville, Paul Clark) 13, Blantyre 11
Fours - Buchan (Jamie Roger, Craig Fraser, James Simpson, Bruce Turriff) 10, Blantyre 15
The Buchan Juniors would like to thank club president David Hay for the use of the facilities, club members and friends for their excellent support and the club caterers for their service on the day.
Buchan I.B.C. can be proud of their young bowlers and the progress that they have made in such a short period of time.
They wish Michael Paterson (Giggsie), who has been selected to represent Scotland (at under 17 level) in Belfast, this weekend the very best of luck.
