Another week where weather and water conditions made fishing quite challenging until things came to life on Saturday and catches returned to a normal level. The fish returned to the higher levels in the water column and buzzers, albeit sometimes assisted by float indicators, made a welcome return as the main end tackle. Dry flies, although attracting interest, have not yet proved to be too successful but insect life on the surface has greatly increased during the week.
Best recorded catches: A Murray, Gardenstown, 25 fish, (yellow dancer, cat’s whisker, yellow fritz), D Stewart, Aberdeen, 14 fish, (buzzers), I Watt, Turriff, 14 fish, (buzzers), L Sleeman, Macduff, 9 fish, (buzzers, damsel nymph), N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, (buzzers), S Rankin, Peterhead, 7 fish, (buzzers), B Cresswell, Macduff, 7 fish, (minkie).
Rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
