Conditions at Delgatie not ideal

FISHING conditions at Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery this week have been far from ideal and most catches fell to the Buzzer allowed to drift in the wind and in some cases, suspended from a dry fly.

With the fish feeding at or near the surface any change in weather conditions put them down where they were difficult to contact.

However, despite this some reasonable catches were recorded the best of which were:

A. Murray, Gardenstown (16 fish, Bunny Leech); J. Murison, Turriff (13 fish, Buzzers); N. Thomson, Turriff (ten fish, Buzzers); E. Quirie, Turriff (nine fish, Buzzers); B. Milton, Buckie (seven fish, Buzzers); L. Davidson, Macduff (six fish, Kate McLaren wt); B. Cresswell, Macduff (five fish, Fritz/Buzzers).

The past week’s rainfall has seen a throughput of fresh water and Saturday saw an upturn in activity. Hopefuly an improvement in temperature which is forecast will lead to a more settled feeding pattern.

Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days a week from 8am til 8pm with an extension of those hours now depending on weather conditions.

Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire and visitors and novices are welcome. Booking not necessary.
