MEMBERs of a Peterhead boxing club will be taking part in a special event next month.

Young boxes from the town’s Caley ABC Boxing Club will compete in a special tournament which will be held at the town’s Palace Hotel on Friday, October 12.

Those taking part in the event will compete with fellow boxers from across Scotland.

The club currently boasts a membership of 50 boxers, 12 of whom will be competing in the event at the Palace Hotel.

The competitors will range in age from 11 years old to mid-30s.

As well as 12 bouts of boxing, the evening will include a three-course meal, a raffle and an auction of sports memorabilia.

Tickets for the event are priced at £375 for tables of ten, inclusive of the meal, and are availble for purchase from the Palace.

Commenting, James Price said: “This is our first show of the new season and our boxers are starting to up their training.

“We match their ability, from novice to elite boxers.

“This event sells out every year - often within a week.

“This year we are expecting around 200 people and we’re looking to build on the successes of previous seasons.

“We’re a well-established club. Last season we were the most successful and well-travelled club in our district,” he added.

It is hoped that tickets will sell quickly for this popular event.
