Ken Buchanan (MBE) has become an honorary member of Peterhead Boxing Club.
The former undisputed Lightweight Champion of the World visited the lads at the boxing gym in Ellis Street to wish them well and get some photos with them.
A club member said: “Buchanan was brilliant. He took up photos of himself and signed them for all the boxers and got his photo with them.
“He told us some stories and offered some valuable advice and tips.”
The hall of famer was guest of honour at the boxing night and was won over by the hospitality and the atmosphere on display at the Palace Hotel.
He was impressed by the boxing and saw potential in many of the Peterhead boxers.
He also commented that he felt the Peterhead boxers’ fitness was a step above that of all the other clubs, which is a credit to the lads who have trained so hard.
At the interval, Ken was presented with an engraved hip flask and a bottle of whisky, while his wife Carol-Ann was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
This certainly won’t be the last we see of the Tartan Legend in Peterhead!
