Balmoor gymnasts are crowned Scottish Champions

Eight gymnasts from Balmoor Gymnastics Club in Boddam attended the Women’s Artistic floor and vault competition at Bells Sports Centre, Perth on November 14.

The girls all competed in the Beginners section in their relevant ages 8 Years, 9 Years and 10/11 Years.

The Perth competition is one of the biggest in Scotland with over 250 gymnasts entered in the beginner section alone and tough competition expected throughout the day.

The Balmoor girls all received Merit certificates which meant they had achieved a score over 23.50 and have progressed into the Intermediate section for future competitions. This is a fantastic achievement for the gymnasts!

Their results from the day are as below:

8 Years Beginners:

Steffie West: 7th Floor, 1st Vault, 3rd Overall

9 Years Beginners:

Tiffany Buchan: 6th Floor, 5th Vault, 1st Overall – Scottish Champion

Brodie Buchan: 4th Vault, 14th Overall

Neeve Smith: 13th Floor, 10th Vault, 9th Overall

Jodie Morris: 10th Floor, 6th Overall

Team of Tiffany Buchan, Jodie Morris, Neeve Smith & Brodie Buchan – 1st Overall

10/11 Years Beginners

Maisie Duthie: 1st Floor, 7th Vault, 1st Overall – Scottish Champion

Demi Buchan: 2nd Floor, 12th Vault, 2nd Overall

Chloe Tait: 5th Floor, 8th Overall

Team of Maisie Duthie, Demi Buchan & Chloe Tait – 1st Overall

Commenting after the competition, the coaches said: “We are all very proud of the girls’ achievements and dedication to their training.

“We wish them luck in their future competitions as Intermediate gymnasts.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the parents and helpers for their continued support within the club.

“A huge thank you also has to go to all of our volunteer coaches who give up their free time to train the gymnasts of Balmoor, making it possible for gymnasts of all abilities/ages being able to take part in the sport.
