Peterhead Amateur Swimming Club recently had eight swimmers competing in the first UDASC Graded Junior Challenge at Aboyne.
The challenge was a 25m, 50m and 100m swim in a selected stroke. Combined lowest time was declared the winner.
The start sheet proved a busy day with all the varied swims but the youngsters swam really well.
Upper Deeside were great hosts and made everyone feel very welcome and we all assembled for the prize giving at the end.
Results were as follows: Ewan May came second in the Backstroke Challenge Boys 9-10 and Erin McNeil came first in the Backstroke Challenge Girls 9-10.
Aiden Low came first in the Butterfly Challenge Boys 11-12, Blair Reekie came second in the same event and Erin Reekie came first in Butterfly Challenge Girls 11-12.
Blair Reekie came first in the Frontcrawl Challenge Boys 11-12.
Harvey Buchan came second in the Breastroke Challenge Boys 9-10 and Bobby Drew Buchan came third in the same event.
Other than the trophies we had some great PBs and a good team spirit. It was commented that our team was the only one not to have any DQs.
Petergead ASC had a similarly successful trip to the Inverness Aquadome on Saturday, October 5 for the ND Sprints Championships.
This was a fast meet and our swimmers gave it their all.
Enthusiasm among team-mates was inspiring in the way the cheered each other on. Here’s a rundown of the day:
Aidan Low PB’d in both 50 Fly and 50 Free, Darren Ritchie swam 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly and 50 Free, Blair Reekie did his 50 Back in 41.84, Erin Reekie PB’d in 50 Breast
Caitlin Davies swam all events. PB’d in 100 IM and 50 Back, made it into the Finals for IM, Fly (5th) and picked up Gold for Free.
On Saturday, October 26 Peterhead ASC took part in the fourth Alford Otters 100 Meet at Westhill, writes Gordon Willox.
Just a quick note to say well done to all our swimmers who attended the Alford Otters Meet on Saturday 26 October.
Tremendous effort by each and everyone of them on achieving some great PB’s and winning a few medals.
Erin Reekie taking Bronze in the fly, Elaine Murray with Bronze in backstroke, Caitlin Davies winning Silvers in IM and freestyle, Bronze in backstroke as well as picking up Best Girl Trophy for the 14 year olds.
Finally well done to those who took part in the relays as they put up an amazing show and gave a great account of themselves. Other clubs even commented on how much the club has come on.
As we know it is all down to everyones hard work and committment. Keep it up and your efforts will give you rewards.
